Nope, that’s not a typo. A guy is suing for the right to change his age. Not his name, sex, or anything else – his age.

Emile Ratelband was born in 1949, making him 69-years-old today. He’s trying to change his age, legally, for several reasons. One, he says that he’s trying to have better chances when applying for jobs. Another reason is that he says he’s being discriminated against on Tinder. Yes, really, he wants to change his age so he has a better chance dating someone on Tinder.

To be totally fair to the guy, he’s in amazing shape for his age. He strived to live a healthy lifestyle, exercising and eating right. His doctor, according to Emile, says that he’s a “young god.” The doctor says that Emile is physically fit enough to be regarded as a 40-42-year-old. So he’s trying to have his age legally changed to be exactly 20 years younger. “When you’re 69 on Tinder, nobody reacts. And a friend told me you can change your birthday and do a little bit of Photoshop-ing… But I’m not going to lie on Tinder,” Emile says.

He’s currently making his case in Dutch courts. So far, they’ve told him it’s not possible, and he says that they even laughed at him. He’s hopeful though, and says that if the courts say he can’t, he’ll just keep fighting in higher court. See some more on his story and age-change case here.
