The Grammys are close, they’re happening next month, and many people are already irritated about them. See, Ed Sheeran was “snubbed,” according to fans, when it comes to Grammy nominations. He was nominated to win “Best Pop Solo Performance,” and “Best Pop Vocal Album.” But we were all hoping to see him nominated in the usual categories – “Record of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Album of the Year.”

He’s had some serious hits this year, and we can probably safely assume that we were all pretty surprised that Ed wasn’t nominated for those top awards this year. But it seems like us as fans are taking the miss a bit harder than he is. After appearing on Ellen’s YouTube “bonus” show, and learning about how he feels about everything, we can sort of understand it. Winning a Grammy isn’t “all that,” if people just know your songs, and have them stuck in their heads constantly. He says “I’d rather have a lifetime of people coming up to me and saying, ‘This song affects me… in a positive way, this song’s my wedding song. This song was my first kiss,’ than anything else.” Check out the interview below. The part where he talks about the nominations happens at about 14 seconds in, so right at the beginning.

Here’s a complete list of the nominees. More info on fan outrage here.
