Luke Bryan recently spoke up in defense of Katy Perry’s on-screen American Idol kiss that stirred A LOT of controversy.
In case you missed the news, Katy Perry gave contestant Benjamin Glaze his first kiss ever on screen. The problem came from the fact that it was a surprise kiss. Meaning the 19-year-old didn’t consent to it.
Then, the story blew up even further when Benjamin told the press that he wished Katy hadn’t kissed him. He said that he came from a conservative family and that he wanted his first kiss to be special.
Many people pointed fingers at Katy, accusing her of harassment.
Luke Bryan, however, recently came to her defense on Australia’s The Morning Show, Taste of Country, reports:
“It’s unfortunate that stuff like that turns into a story that big. I watched an actual interview where [Glaze] said that he was cool with everything… and I gotta back Katy on that. You know she’s in there working hard and making fun TV. And you know what, we’re gonna get right it sometimes and get it wrong sometimes.”
Benjamin himself also set the record straight on how he felt about the kiss on his Instagram, writing:
“I do not think I was sexually harassed by Katy Perry and I am thankful for the judges comments and critiques. I was uncomfortable in a sense of how I have never been kissed before and was not expecting it.”
So there are the facts, folks! Coming from the man himself.
