Serena Williams wins Wimbledon

By Doug Lazy on July 3, 2010

Serena Williams raised 13 fingers to her Father today, after beating Russia’s Vera Zvonareva, 6-3. 6-2, for her 4th Wimbledon title.  Her 13th Grand Slam singles title moves her ahead of her mentor Billie Jean King, who was on site applauding Williams. Serena lingered on the Court  after her win.  She smiled, pumped her fist, leaned backward, waved and signed autographs, the celebration long and lasting. She said she felt like Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” were playing in her head.
