Robert Pattinson is among the actors rumored to be taking over the role of Batman from Ben Affleck, for future DC movies.

According to NME, Affleck confirmed that he would not be reprising his role as the superhero for the upcoming standalone film, The Batman. Affleck had previously portrayed the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League. Affleck’s final appearance as Batman will reportedly be in Justice League Part Two.

In addition to Pattinson, several other actors are thought to be in contention for the role of the caped crusader. Individuals on the list include Jack O’Connell, Kit Harrington, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard Madden, and Armie Hammer.

Ben Affleck will also be relinquishing his role as director for The Batman, with Cloverfield director Matt Reeves taking over the film. This move pushed the release date for the movie back to 2021. When describing the film, Reeves said “We’re doing a story that is definitively Batman though and trying to tell a story that’s emotional and yet is really about him being the world’s greatest detective and all the things that for me, since I was a kid, made me love Batman.”
