It turns out that, in an alternate universe, Macaulay Culkin could have been a regular on The Big Bang Theory. He refused the offer three times before the producers moved on.
According to E! News, the concept of the show didn’t quite interest him. “I couldn’t see myself doing a sitcom or a television show kind of thing,” Culkin said. “A good one, I’d do.”
“They pursued me for The Big Bang Theory,” he continued. “And I said no ’cause the pitch was just like, ‘Alright, these two astrophysicist nerds… and then a pretty girl lives with them—yoinks!’ That was the pitch. I said, ‘Yeah, no, I’m cool, thanks.’ And then they came back at me again, and I said, ‘No, no, no. Again, flattered, but no.’ Then they came back at me again, and even my manager was twisting my arm.”

Of course, Culkin understands that he missed out on a huge sum of money from walking away from the show. Regardless, he has no regrets. “Listen, I’d have hundreds of millions of dollars now if I did that gig. At the same time, I’d be bashing my head against the wall.”
The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for a twelfth season. The lead actors take the top four spots in highest-paid male TV actor rankings. Their salaries range from $27.5 million to $25 million yearly. Kaley Cuoco is the second highest-paid female actor with $26 million.
