Straight from the mouth of Ed himself, he says that when it’s time to have kids, he’s probably going to lose interest in the music industry.

Newly engaged, Ed and his now-fiancee are in the wedding planning stages, and soon after that will probably be in the family-making stages. As a direct quote, Ed said “My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids. I am going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of.” He has said in the past as well, not only that he thinks he’d make a great father, but that he’d like to be one by the time he’s 30. Currently he’s 26, so that leaves a little less than 3 years to go. “It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, ‘I want to be a good father’,” he continued.

He said that he’s already starting to lose his ambition a little bit because he’s achieved so much – much more than he ever thought he would actually achieve. But he may break into another music format completely – “My ambition next is a silly small ambition to write a country music song that goes to number one on country radio in America.” That would be cool, we’d love to hear Ed write a country song. We’re not sure if Ed wants to SING on the song, or just write one for a country artist, but he’s already helped write a few country tunes.

Ed, whatever you do, your music will obviously live on, and you’ll still probably find time to write and sing here and there, having a kid won’t be the last we see of you for sure.
