54 years ago, Ron Alvernaz started running The Distillery in Sacramento’s Midtown. As of Tuesday night, the bar has officially shut it’s doors for good…

The Sacramento Bee has reported that this popular bar has closed due to its ownership changing hands.

Alvernaz confirmed that he’d been negotiating the sale of the bar over the past year, but the new owner needed to take over this week to start a major remodeling of the building.

He explained:

“He’s going to clean it up. It needs a facelift.”

Unfortunately, it’s not known what will happen to the bar following the remodel.
