Katy Perry On ‘I Kissed A Girl’ Regrets, And ‘Big Soul Overhaul’
Katy Perry talked about some regrets she has with the song ‘I Kissed a Girl,’ and also about a ‘soul overhaul’ she’s planning.

Katy Perry is doing some soul-searching, and she was also talking about some regrets she has from the hit song “I Kissed a Girl” from 2008 that basically helped skyrocket her career.
About the song specifically, she says “that was in 2008 when it came out… I think we’ve really changed, conversationally.” She says that bisexuality didn’t seem to be “as talked about back then.” She says if she could rewrite the song, she would change a couple things around. She says specifically that the lyrics “not what good girls do” and “not how they should behave” have been “called out for trivializing bisexuality,” and she does admit that the song does include a couple stereotypes. Now what about this “big soul overhaul” thing she was talking about? Well, she says that it’s basically time to grow up a little. She’s talking about sort of forgetting “childhood trauma,” and growing into being an adult. Here’s the quote:
I’m preparing to do a big soul overhaul very soon that I’m nervous about,” she revealed. “I want to emotionally elevate myself. I don’t want to hold on to childhood trauma anymore. I want to grow into becoming an adult. I’m preparing myself for having a family of my own someday. And that’s the thing: I want to do a little bit more soul surgery before I have a family of my own so that I don’t transfer any of those lingering feelings.
She also says that a lot of her songs that she writes are “motivational pep talks” to herself. “They’re my soul speaking to me, saying, ‘Come on. We can do this. One foot in front of the other.'” It sounds like she’s really ready to, as she says, “step into being Katheryn Hudson,” (her real name), and do the “adult” thing. Maybe this will mean some more music soon, possibly with a different style? Or perhaps she’s just ready to find love and settle down with someone. We can’t wait to see what’s in store.
