Big shout-out to this guy, named Jeff Garrett from Elk Grove. Around 5:30 in the morning yesterday, he heard the sound of a car crash. He ran outside, and saw a pickup truck against a tree, with a fire starting.

Once he was woken up by the sound, he went outside to try and see if he could figure out what had happened. Jeff was looking over the fence when he heard a man coughing, and then saw the flames. Without sparing any time at all, he just reacted and started running towards the crash. Jeff said “I was a bit afraid of what I was going to see because it was clearly a bad accident. So, I wasn’t sure what I was going to see when I opened the doors.” When he got to the truck, the engine compartment was already engulfed. He worked quick and started helping the 3 passengers out of the truck.

The driver was injured the most, and his leg was in the fire as Jeff pulled him out. He helped all 3 passengers out of the truck, and as he turned around to look, he says the whole truck was now on fire. The three passengers are now in the hospital, and one of them has life-threatening injuries, according to Fox 40. Jeff is now being considered a hero in the community, and his wife says it’s just what he does. Jennifer, Jeff’s wife, says “I’m really proud. Not many people would have stepped up and done something like that… He doesn’t hesitate to help people. He’s a quick thinker.”
