Ed Sheeran was in Berlin talking about his documentary “Songwriter,” and he dropped a hint that he might turn to acting and working on a movie as soon as next year; and that he won’t be starring as himself. He has a lot of on-camera experience in the form of interviews and appearances, and he obviously has some screen experience in the form of his spot on “Game of Thrones” as well as “Bridget Jones’s Baby.” He said that he’s “preparing” for another movie next year, and also mentioned that he wrote the soundtrack to the flick. It sounds like he’s got a lot of involvement in the planning stage too.

Ed said when he was asked about the “acting bug” that “I’m going to make one movie in my lifetime… Well, I’ll aim to make one and if it’s good, then I’ll make another one….” He dropped a couple more hints about the movie, saying that it would be boring if he played himself, but that the story of the movie is based on an album that he wrote, and he added that the movie has a “great director.” The movie is in the “idea stage” says the source, but if he’s already written the soundtrack for the movie, which possibly means it’s his next album completely, it sounds like it’s pretty far-along in the process.

Are you a fan of Ed Sheeran? There’s no question that he’s great on-stage and in front of crowds, but the movie industry is a different beast all together. Do you think he has what it takes to star on the big-screen, and not as himself? It sounds like he’s really interested in doing it, and he is certainly talented. We hope the movie is the real-deal, and we can’t wait to see it when it wraps up in a couple years. Check out some more info here. Maybe it will be another step for him after he loses interest in music, like he said he might before.
