Marvel movie fans are rejoicing over the news that Spider-Man will be coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney/Marvel and Sony are once again working together after a previous disagreement last month. The studios have reportedly agreed on a deal for Marvel to produce another film for Sony, with a release date set for July 16, 2021. Marvel Studio’s head, Kevin Feige, voiced his excitement and anticipation for the new film.
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige said. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
This new film will also feature the return of Tom Holland playing the web-swinging hero. With this deal, Spider-Man will also reportedly appear in another future Marvel movie.
