Davis native, Hasan Minhaj, is one my favorites with his humor, and intelligence plus as an irrelevant bonus he has great hair and loves basketball. As a fan I was really hoping he would be named the new host of “The Daily Show”. Internet buzz put Minhaj as a front runner for the job but then The New Yorker did a story about how he had exaggerated his stories in his standup comedy routines which included stories about Minhaj’s childhood in Davis. Now Vanity Fair is reporting that Comedy Central is looking for a new front runner. Well, if the host can’t be Minhaj, I would say give the job to Leslie Jones, she was a great fill in after the departure of Trevor Noah.
Minhaj did respond to the story by The New Yorker saying, “…My comedy Arnold Palmer is 70% emotional truth—this happened—and then 30% hyperbole, exaggeration, fiction”
I’m still hopeful Minhaj will get the hosting gig and represent NorCal. I mean isn’t it a well known fact that comedians embellish their stories? I don’t understand why they’re singling out Minhaj. Who do you want to see as the new host of “The Daily Show”?
