Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is heading from the small screen to the world of politics!
TMZ is reporting that the actress has just announced her candidacy for Governor of New York.

She captioned her official campaign video by saying:
“I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor. Join us”
The video also highlights the areas Nixon wants to focus on, including increasing opportunities for children in New York and alleviating unequal wealth distribution. She also called out our leaders for “letting us down.”
Nixon will face off against incumbent New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. He has held this position since 2010, and he will be running for his third term in office.
