This makes me so sad! Rico’s Pizza in Sacramento is closing it’s doors after 42 years. When I moved back to Sacramento last month I was so excited to see that Rico’s was still in business. It’s been more than 20 years since I’ve had Rico’s pizza and I was so excited that I could still order from there. I remember as a kid my Dad would come home carrying the massive party size pizza box and we would all get so excited. Every New Years Eve my sisters and I would get the party size pizza and chow down as we cut up newspapers to use as confetti to ring in the New Year at midnight.

Reportedly, after the pandemic Rico’s wasn’t able to bounce back and has been dealing with staffing issues. Rico’s has not announced a closing date but it’s expected to happen within the next few weeks.

Will you miss Rico’s? What’s your favorite spot in Sacramento?
