The Walking Dead will be seeing the launch of a brand new series, set to release in 2020.

According to People, this new series will be joining the other extremely popular shows set in the Walking Dead universe. After the enormous success of the original 2010 series, and the more recent 2015 show Fear the Walking Dead, this new series is set to continue the success of the acclaimed franchise. The new series will also reportedly be a female-led show.

According to the network, this new show will “feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”

The series is reportedly being created by chief content officer Scott M. Gimple and writer/producer for TWD, Matt Negrete. Negrete will act as showrunner, and production of 10 episodes is set to begin this summer in Virginia for a 2020 release. No word has been released yet of the possibility of characters crossing over to this new series.
