5 Killer Katy Perry Covers

Katy Perry Letterman

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, [lastfm]Katy Perry[/lastfm] can consider her ego well covered. In honor of Katy’s upcoming Live on Letterman streaming concert, we’ve pulled together a collection of our favorite Katy Perry covers, including the [lastfm]Jonas Brothers[/lastfm], [lastfm]A Rocket to the Moon[/lastfm], [lastfm]Travis[/lastfm], and more.

5. “Thinking of You” [lastfm]the Jonas Brothers[/lastfm]

The JoBro’s just kicked off their summer tour this week, and with any luck, they’ll be rolling out their version of Katy’s “Thinking of You” from One of the Boys. Here they are, performing Katy’s fourth single, acoustic- complete with violin.

4. “Waking Up in Vegas” Nick Santino of [lastfm]A Rocket to the Moon[/lastfm]

Waking up in Las Vegas is always a little rough, and unless room service shows up with a giant tray of bacon and the pile of cash you lost the night before, it’s hard to make things better, but Katy’s sick of hearing you complain about it. Nick Santino, of A Rocket to the Moon agrees, and wishes you would just “shut up and put you’re money where your mouth is.”

3. “Hot n Cold” [lastfm]Kid British[/lastfm]

As you probably guessed, Kid British is a British band that blends, rock, pop, ska, dancehall, and just about every other genre of music you can think of, well except maybe bluegrass. This video captures the lads giving “Hot n Cold” a bit of the reggae treatment.

2. “California Gurls” [lastfm]the Fallows[/lastfm]

The Fallows are another up-and coming British act, who apparently all seem to love covering Katy Perry. Bet you weren’t expecting that mandolin on this track.

1. “I Kissed a Girl” [lastfm]Travis[/lastfm]

Travis is a Scottish band that broke onto the American music scene with songs like “Why Does it Always Rain on Me?” and “Sing,” but Travis’ biggest hit on the internet may be their cover of Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time.” Now, Travis has set its pop cover sites on Katy’s “I Kissed a Girl,” and the results speak for themselves.
