Alicia Keys did a fantastic job hosting the Grammys, especially under the tragic circumstances of the death of Kobe Bryant that just happened the morning of the award show.

Her opening monologue was dedicated to Kobe Bryant, it was so emotional and very touching. She walked onto the Grammy stage at the Staples Center and said, quote, “We’re all feeling crazy sadness right now because earlier today, Los Angeles, America, and the whole wide world lost a hero.  And we’re literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built.”  She paused, then she started singing “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” and Boyz II Men came out and joined in.
