NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 14: An Uber car waits for a client in Manhattan a day after it was announced that Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick will take a leave of absence as chief executive on June 14, 2017 in New York City. The move came after former attorney general Eric H. Holder Jr. and his law firm, Covington & Burling, released 13 pages of recommendations compiled as part of an investigation of sexual harassment at the ride-hailing car service. Uber has launched a subscription plan that starts at $14.99 a month. See what you get for that subscription fee…

Uber released a press release detailing their new “Ride Pass”. The pass starts at $14.99/month and promises to give customers consistent prices on unlimited rides.

ThePennyHoarder.com says that customers with a Ride Pass wouldn’t have to worry about surge price when there’s a high demand for Ubers. There’s no estimate for the savings that Ride Pass customers would save, but the article states that “the locked-in rates riders pay will be based on historical prices and will be discounted up to 15%.” It also says that Uber drivers’ pay wouldn’t change for these discounted rides with Ride Pass.

Uber is testing the ride pass in five cities right now: Austin, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami and Orlando.
