Construction has begun on some tiny home sheds in Yuba City, to help provide some temporary shelters for the homeless.

According to Good Day Sacramento, these tiny homes are constructed from ‘Tuff Sheds’, with 20 homes being built so far. Chuck Smith, with Sutter County, shared some details about the program, including that the sheds can be used for up to 90 days as an emergency shelter for temporary housing, as long as the occupants are working to get permanent housing. He went on to say: “The Better Way Shelter is for people that want to get off the river, want to get off the street, and want to work on any issues that cause the homelessness.” “And the caseworkers will be with them step by step with them all the time,” he added.

These shelters are reportedly located behind the Behavioral Health Building on county property, in Yuba City on Live Oak Blvd. Each shed also reportedly costs $4,800, with funding comes from state money for housing. The housing project is set to be completed next week.
