No, I’m not talking about holding a job at a waterpark, I mean literally throwing kids off water slides. This 18 year old, for no apparent reason other than a long line, threw an 8-year-old over the railing, 31 feet above the ground.
18-year-old Roman Adams was waiting in line at a water park. Apparently things weren’t moving fast enough for him, so he decided to throw an 8-year-old over the railing to the ground below. The only reason investigators could figure was because Roman was angry about how long the line was taking. The 8-year-old fell 31 feet, landing on the concrete below the slide. He broke several bones, including legs, some in his feet, and his shoulder. He was awake and responsive when emergency crews arrived.
As for the 18-year-old – he was arrested, of course. He was charged with third-degree assault for his actions. It was later discovered that Roman also has developmental disabilities. He had a personal care assistant with him, however that person was on the ground; not up on the water slide platform with him. Police Captain Nick Francis says “It’s difficult when we have to view someone as a possible suspect that’s got some mental disabilities… But our job comes down to determining whether or not a crime took place, whether or not someone knew right from wrong.”
The young boy is doing well in the hospital. According to reports, he’s “in good spirits.” Captain Francis says “The victim is in amazingly good spirits, able to talk, able to laugh a little bit. His question was, ‘why did this happen to me? Why did this person throw me over?” See some more info on the story here.
