Many fans of the beloved fantasy film, The Princess Bride, are frustrated over the recent news of a potential remake.
According to NME, this frustration and anger stemmed from a recent article discussing a possible remake of Rob Reiner’s beloved film. In the article, head of Sony Pictures, Tony Vinciquerra, made the comment that set social media afire. “Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo The Princess Bride …” he said. “Not a month goes by when we don’t have an idea coming from some very big name wanting to do things with (movie producer) Norman.”
Nothing has been confirmed about whether this remake might happen, but this snippet of info was enough to raise ‘Princess Bride’ fans’ anger. Even Carey Elwes, star of the original film, voiced his own displeasure with this information. On social media he posted a clever reference, saying: “There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one.”
What would you think if they chose to remake this classic film?
