Last.fm Trends: Taylor Swift Announces New Album
By Doug Lazy on July 22, 2010
One of the world’s most consistently popular artists Taylor Swift recently announced that she’ll be releasing a new album later this year. Speak Now is the follow up to her best-selling album Fearless, and will hit stores on October 25th.
Last.fm Trends dug up some of the star’s back catalog to see just how much listeners will have to scrobble to get new material to the top of her charts…
Swift closed 2009 on a high at Last.fm, coming 13th in our “Best Of” chart, and missing out on the top ten by just over one million scrobbles, small feat for her army of 582,550 listeners.
Her top ten tracks read like a list of pop and country‘s biggest hits, with “You Belong With Me“, “White Horse” and “Fifteen” all riding high.
Her highest scrobbling track though is “Love Story,” the lead single from Fearless, which boasts a staggering 2,723,080 scrobbles. As recently as February, it was getting 13,000 listeners every week.
Of course, new material could change all that. The singer is on track for another hugely successful album, and could climb even higher in the next end of year chart. You’ll have to keep an eye on Last.fm Trends to find out how it does. In the meantime, check out more of Taylor Swift‘s back catalog in the sidebar.
