Well, this is news. Justin Bieber as you know recently popped the question to Hailey Baldwin (a couple months ago). Their wedding was set to happen in 2019, but over the weekend, it broke that Justin is, uh, already married.
Good news is that he’s already married to Hailey. Wait, what? Yeah, it turns out that the two of them actually got legally married via paperwork. They did it last Thursday in New York, according to People. It happened when they walked into a courthouse used for giving marriage licenses. A source close to the couple says that they did it, pretty much against the advice of everyone around them. Hey, they’re grown-ups, let ’em do it!
But what about their 2019 date and ceremony? Well, that’s still happening, says a “religious source” who knows the two of them. Despite their courthouse wedding, it’s still important to the two that they have a big ceremony. “They’re going to have a big blowout, in front of God and everyone they love,” says the source. The couple don’t consider themselves “married” yet, as the courthouse marriage was “a legal thing.”
And now for the citizenship part of this headline. Bieber was born in Canada, but moved to Atlanta when he was 13. Despite the move at that age, he never became a true US citizen. There’s nothing wrong with that, he’s been living here legally and everything, but now he’s taking the opportunity to actually become a citizen. He’s applying for dual-citizenship, so he can be a US citizen AND remain a Canadian citizen. He’s going through the process, which involves a lot of paperwork.
There are also some criteria that need to be met; some “qualifications,” if you will. You must have had a green card for at least 5 years, which I’m sure Bieber has. You have to be at least 18, so that’s another check mark for the Biebs. A third criteria that has to be met is that you have to read, write, and speak basic english. Pretty sure Justin has that covered, so a third check mark on that. The fourth thing you have to be is “a person of good moral character.” Uh-oh, question mark… Just kidding, Justin is a great guy, and he’s clearly changed himself for the better and less mischievous in recent years. I’d say he’s good to go, and I’d also like to congratulate Hailey and him!
