After news hit that Stephen Hillenburg, the show’s creator, passed away due to ALS, fans started a petition to get “Sweet Victory” played during next year’s Super Bowl Halftime show in his honor. According to Comicbook.com, the Change.org petition is taking off. Right now, there are over 600,000 signatures, with the goal set at 1 million.

“As a tribute to his legacy, his contributions to a generation of children, and to truly showcase the greatness of this song, we call for Sweet Victory to be performed at the Halftime Show,” the description reads. What a great idea to pay homage to Hillenburg!

This would be such an amazing tribute. We hope it happens!
