Don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of Sia’s full face these days. The singer-songwriter is ditching her disguise as she promotes her upcoming directorial debut, Music.
The notoriously private artist — who usually dons a face-covering wig for public appearances — says she’s switching things up as she embraces her new role as feature film director.
“I figured to talk about the movie you need your eyes…and if you’re gonna talk about feelings you need your eyes,” she tells ABC News. “So when I’m promoting the movie, this is my director vibe.”
Music stars Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr. and Sia’s longtime mini-muse, Maddie Ziegler. In addition to directing and co-writing the film, Sia also wrote 10 songs for the soundtrack, including the current uplifting single, “Together,” which she performed on Good Morning America Friday.
The song’s rainbow-colored video and message of unity seems tailor-made for Pride Month, but Sia says it wasn’t planned to be an anthem for Pride — it just happened to work out that way.
“What we were always planning to do was to put out ‘Together’ as, like, an intro to what you might expect from the movie, and it was just kismet, it was perfect timing,” she says.
The film is tentatively set for a September release in theaters and IMAX.
