Your Shipment Of Poop Has Arrived

A small town in Alabama is having some issues with some waste management facilities storing literal tons of human waste in their town.

This is one of the more strange problems we’ve heard of. A train, literally (and I mean literally) filled with human poop has been parked in a small town in Alabama. Residents want it gone, obviously, but there are some problems. It’s not raw sewage, it’s been through a stage of processing, but it’s still, you know… Poop train.

Why is a train filled with human waste? Glad you asked! Waste management places in both New York and New Jersey have been shipping extra excrement down south (about 10 million pounds worth) to get processed. This has been happening for about a year now. There’s a privately owned landfill where the waste was being sent to be disposed. That landfill is in Adamsville, Alabama. A town near Adamsville filed paperwork to prevent the landfill from storing the turd-trains in a railyard close to the town. This means a new storage facility had to be found.

That’s where the small town (less than 1,000 people) of Parrish. They had a train yard that had free space for the trains of poo to sit, and no laws preventing the storage of waste. Well, two months later, the trains are still sitting there, waiting to be processed. The town is suffering now, because after 2 months of poo buildup in trains, the town is starting to adopt the smell, which is “like a rotting animal carcass.” Eeeew. People can’t open doors or windows because of the smell, the poop train is basically right on top of a couple sports fields, and the weather is getting hot. Check out some more info on the rather interesting problem here.
