Bert and Ernie, from the classic kids show Sesame Street, are officially coming out as a gay couple!

According to TMZ, writer Mark Saltzman spilled the beans in a recent interview with Queerty. He explained that he wrote the pair as a gay couple.

However, he wasn’t trying to push an agenda with his depiction. Rather, he wanted to reflect his own relationship with film editor Arnold Glassman. He further revealed that he was Ernie and Glassman was Bert.
