Remember the Selfie Kid from Justin Timberlake’s halftime show? He was spotted on camera right there during the performance taking a selfie with Justin while he was singing “Can’t Stop the Feeling” in the audience. What a lucky dude!

Anyway, the kid quickly became a national celebrity, and just appeared on the Ellen Show. Ellen was of course asking him about what was going through his head, the memes too of course, and got the story about why he seems distracted while Justin was singing. Apparently his phone restarted and was taking some time to come up, but luckily it rebooted just in time for the iconic selfie at the end of the performance before Justin headed back down to the field. Here’s that shot:

Justin Timberlake is the best guy ever

While talking about everything, Ellen jumped in with a “well we have someone on the phone for you,” and of course Ryan, the Selfie Kid, knew right away what was happening. Justin said hello, and said that it was nice to officially meet, and they gave Ryan a bit of a surprise gift pack. Justin gave Ryan some VIP tickets to his concert coming up in Boston near where the family lives, and Ryan’s family was also given special tickets to a home game to see their favorite team, the Patriots. How cool is that!

The power of a selfie, right? Justin is an awesome guy, and he made that kid’s year for sure. Congratulations to Ryan McKenna on his selfie, and again to Justin for the awesome performance.
