Selena Gomez educated her 179M followers with having Ruby Bridges take over her Instagram story! Now if you are unaware of who Ruby Bridges is, she was the first young Black girl to desegregate an elementary school in the South in 1960. According to Yahoo Entertainment, the singer has been lending her account to Black activists that have been protesting since the death of Gorge Floyd.
Selena gave Ms. Bridges her platform to share footage that had never been seen…when Ruby entered the school on her first day of 1st grade in New Orleans, desegregating her elementary school.
The footage can be found in the doc, “The Children Were Watching,” showing “the courage that our Black & Brown Families had during the civil rights movement,” Bridges says.”
This is a great way to share your social platform Selena! Keep Going!
