The AMAs was Selena Gomez’s first stage performance since her hiatus. She performed her latest single with EDM producer Marshmello, “Wolves.”

Many people on Twitter, however, were quick to point out that it appears Gomez chose to lip sync instead of singing live, as Marie Claire found.

Lip syncing is fairly common during huge award shows like the AMAs, as it provides extra insurance that the performance will go smoothly. Many fans do understand that aspect of it, as well.
