Thanks to the generous donations from a Sacramento-area dentist, the adoption costs for a Sacramento animal shelter have been waived through Thanksgiving.

According to KCRA3, Rocklin dentist Dr. Sunny Badyal is the one covering the costs for adoptions. This generous act caught many people off guard, who went to the shelter thinking they would have to pay the fees for adopting a new animal friend. Badyal humbly explained his reason for the act of kindness, saying: “I’m just trying to do my part and help out in this greater Sacramento area.”

Taking place at the Front Street Animal Shelter, this special event has come at just the right time, as the shelter can sometimes take in as many as 60 animals a day. Shelter Communications Manager Bobby Mann said, “For someone to really step up to the plate like that, it makes a big impact for the animals and I think a lot of people that want to adopt as well.”

Dr. Baydal’s generously donated a reported $5,000 for covering adoptions. The Front Street Animal Shelter is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
