Sac RT Launches ‘Ride Free RT’ Program For Students K-12

Sac RT has officially launched their ‘Ride Free RT’ today in Sacramento! It lets students in grades K-12 ride public transportation for free.
Fox40.com says that ‘Ride Free RT’ program offers students in grades K-12 access to free bus rides, light rail rides and access to smart ride service during service hours. They estimate that about 220,000 students are eligible for the ‘Ride Free RT’ program.

The RydeFreeRT program offers fare-free transit for youth and students in grades TK – 12. With RydeFreeRT, youth can ride the entire SacRT transit network, including SacRT buses, light rail, and SmaRT Ride on-demand microtransit service. RydeFreeRT is available all day, any day of the week, and all year long during regular SacRT service hours. Take it to school, to work, or anywhere our transit system travels!
At present, the program is set to run for one year from October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020.
The program also covers students that are home-schooled as well as youth that homeless and foster youth.
