If you don’t know, now you know — Rihanna is not one to mess with.
On Monday, the 32-year-old pop star and beauty mogul took to Instagram to promote her new travel size Fenty Skin Starter Set. For the post, she rocked a lacy lingerie top, floppy bucket hat and two swipes of her Hydra Vizor sunscreen, and captioned it, “just protecting my melanin while they try to eradicate it! @fentyskin #FentySkinStartRs mini gang!”
Many complimented the “Diamonds” singer, but one fan seemed confused as to why anyone would need sunscreen now that summer is officially over, commenting, “it’s winter now.” That prompted Rihanna to take a moment out of her day to school them on the importance of sunscreen.
“It’s the ignorance for me!” Rihanna responded. “You gon have wrinkles if you think spf is seasonal! But continue.”
Although the Fenty Beauty founder is knowledgeable about SPF now, she admitted to Yahoo! Entertainment that she once thought she didn’t need it until she “learned the hard way” and started getting hyperpigmentation.
“I think the biggest misconception with SPF, in particular, is that Black people don’t need it. And as a woman of color, I am here to say that’s a lie,” she said. “We need it and we need it every day.”
