An all-you-can-eat restaurant had to close its doors after only two weeks in business. The customers were eating too much!

Jiamener, the restaurant located in China, managed to rack up $100,000 in debt in the time it was open. Here was the hot pot eatery’s demise: they offered a month of unlimited food for $25 USD in June.

Customers paid the free upfront and received a membership card that allowed access for the month. Some guests also reportedly shared the card with friends and family, which didn’t help the debt. Jiamener served up to 500 customers daily!

The owners thought that the membership deal would accumulate more repeat customers. They told ABC Australia they didn’t think they’d lose money.

Maybe the lesson here is: Never underestimate the will to eat in a buffet style joint.
