The Mother Duck Who Could – With 76 Ducklings
A mother duck was photographed with 76 little ducklings following her around, and I just called my mom to thank her for raising me.

And you thought chaperoning your kid’s field trip was a tough gig. The mother duck has 76 little swimmers following her around, and it was all caught on video.
The photographer, Brent Cizek, was out trying to find some more shots to add to his collection when he spotted the swimmers. “It was mind blowing… I didn’t know a duck could care for that many chicks,” he said. Normally you’d see 10 to 20, and even that’s a high number. Counting after the fact, there were 76 of the little birds to account for. Ducks are an interesting creature. Sometimes ducks will place their own eggs in other duck nests before they hatch. Other times, ducklings that are abandoned or lost will find another duck to “cling” onto. This duck apparently happened to find all these little ducklings somehow. Like a chick magnet.
Had a good afternoon surrounded by nature. Started out on Lake Bemidji where I saw a couple Common Mergansers resting on the beach, followed by a Common Merganser mother who has her hands full with an adopted brood of 50+, then hiked through Lake Bemidji State Park. #OnlyinMN pic.twitter.com/YXm4VdF8f0
