Yes, it’s true. It’s in the 9th season, and one of the creators says that 10 will be the last.

The show is a massive hit, with a majority of the population at least aware the show exists, and much of those people claiming it’s one of their favorites. It even won the Emmy for “Outstanding Comedy Series” 5 years in a row. Certainly outstanding, indeed. Last night was the show’s 200th episode as well. Not many shows make it that far. Anyway, I’ll stop tooting their horn.

Steven Levitan is one of the co-creators of the show. He says the current plan is to end the show after season 10. Much of the big-names on the cast are signed through season 10, so that’s at least guaranteed, but he said that re-signing them, even for just one more year, might be too expensive for them. Ratings have dropped the past couple seasons, and the show just doesn’t seem to be generating the same revenue that it used to. “Our plan is to end it at 10. If we can leave with most of our audience wanting more, I think that’s the right way to do it. Never say never, but I just can’t imagine that we’d go past that.” That sounds a little cruel, “leave with most of our audience wanting more,” but it actually does make sense.

That also leave a small hint at the possibility of a spinoff series, or like the way they’ve been taking over recently, I wonder if running a Netflix series is in the cards.. We’ll have to wait I guess.
