Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish are both interested in the lead role in an upcoming biopic of pioneering ’70s rocker Suzi Quatro, Yahoo Entertainment reports.
Quatro, one of the first female bass players to become a rock star, is best known in the U.S. for playing the role of Leather Tuscadero on the sitcom Happy Days, and for her 1978 hit “Stumblin’ In.” But in the U.K. and Europe, she was a massive star with a string of big singles. Quatro’s also the subject of a new documentary called Suzi Q, and influenced acts like The Go-Go’s, Joan Jett and Blondie.
Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Quatro said that she felt Miley was a good choice to portray her, since she’s both an actress and a singer, has a rock edge and has even worn a mullet, as Suzi did in the ’70s.
“I need to meet her and say, ‘Yeah.’ I just need to have that connection,” said Quatro. “She wants the script and so do Billie Eilish’s people, and we shall see. I will know the person when I meet them. When I hand my life over to somebody to act, I want it to be the right one.”
Quatro is a fan of Miley’s, whom she calls “great” and “a very talented girl.” In addition to Miley and Billie, Quatro says Canadian actress Melissa Roxburgh, star of the NBC series Manifest, has also been approached.
