Max, artist behind the hit “Lights Down Low” talked about how he wrote the song, how his wife was his inspiration behind the song, and how he actually used the song to propose to her. He starts the story by talking about being on tour, and how his then-girlfriend would fly out every other week while he was travelling, and about how their time together was “precious” and that he wanted time to stop. That’s actually where he got the line “Can I stop the flow of time?/ Can I swim in your divine?”

What about the line – also the title of the song – “Oh, turn the lights turn the lights down low?” He actually credits Liam O’Donnell (co-writer) with that one. He says that just having the line “turn the lights down low” helped him to write the rest of the song, sort of giving the lights lyric the centerpiece. Max continued his story by talking about how he actually sang the song to his wife as he proposed to her, complete with someone playing the harp. That sounds pretty incredible. Here’s his story:

When was the last time your spouse or boyfriend wrote a song for you? Heck, I’ll be honest – I have a hard enough time trying to figure out what to write in a birthday card, nevermind writing an entire song. Check out some more from his story here.
