The toy company that owns Barbie, Mattel, and Warner Bros. Pictures teamed up to create Mattel Films. Of course, the first movie the studio plans to produce centers around the famous doll. Margot Robbie is all set to star in the leading role.
According to Nylon, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, Toby Emmerich, hopes that the film revamps Barbie’s relevancy in today’s world with the help of Robbie. The actress will also be co-producing the movie with her company, LuckyChap Entertainment.

“I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide,” Robbie said. “Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery. Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president.”
It sounds like this could be a great flick for young girls! Can’t wait to hear more about this project in the coming months.
