Last.fm Trends: Judging Steven Tyler
By Doug Lazy on August 2, 2010
It’s the story that’s been playing out across the media all weekend; who’s going to be sat on the judging panel for this year’s American Idol? Plenty of names have been banded about in the last few months including Justin Timberlake, Howard Stern, Elton John and Sean Combs, with Jennifer Lopez emerging on top last week. But reports have also surfaced that Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler is close to sealing a deal that will see him replace Simon Cowell.
Last.fm Trends took a look at the singer’s catalog, and found out whether his fans still don’t want to miss a thing he does…
In the Aerosmith camp the scrobbles are looking healthy. If you’re a last.fm listener than every song you play scrobbles, updating your profile with every song you play, every time you play it. So far 1,622,305 listeners have scrobbled the band 35,464,406 times, lots of it from their legendary singles collection.
“Crazy” – just one of their heavy hitters – boasts over one and a half million scrobbles so far, while “Walk This Way“, just outside of the top five, has just nudged past the 1,000,000 scrobbles point.
Up top though it’s “Dream On” and “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” that jockey for position, each with just under 2,600,000 scrobbles apiece. Safe to say that if Tyler does wind up on Idol then he’s in no danger of the newcomers getting more plays than him.
