This marks the third adaptation of the story. Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz starred in the first film remake of the original ’70s show. So far, everyone involved is staying tight-lipped about what to expect from the upcoming movie.
“‘Charlie’s Angels,’ for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s,” Banks wrote in a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter. “This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels.”
Banks is not only directing, but she’s also co-writing and acting in the film, as well. She’s reportedly playing Bosley.
Charlie’s Angels is set to release in September 2019. Can’t wait!
