Oops. Justin Timberlake was being interviewed ahead of his halftime performance coming up on Sunday, and someone asked him if his son Silas would ever play football. He gave a quick “no,” but then went on to explain that he wants to raise his son to be a “great person” first, but if he wants to play sports or get into the music industry, that Justin would give his full support.

At first the reporter asked if Justin would be ok with his son following in his footsteps (meaning entering the music industry, which Justin has previously expressed his opinion about). Justin told a story about how he brought Silas to rehearsals the day before, and that he realized how quickly his boy could “run 100 yards,” before offering to fill-in for some of the receivers on one of the teams (as a joke). Anyway, Justin has great intentions, but it was the way he said “no” when answering the “will Silas play football.” It almost sounded rude in a way? Then he sort of back-pedaled a little bit, saying that if Silas did want to, that he’d support him all the way.
