Johnny Depp Reportedly Dropped From Future ‘Pirates’ Films
Johnny Depp and his character in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise, Jack Sparrow, have reportedly been dropped from appearing in future films in the series.

Johnny Depp has reportedly been dropped from future films in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
This report comes from the Daily Mail, after the earlier announcement this week that Disney was looking to plan a major reboot for the Pirates franchise. This news was reportedly confirmed by the original Pirates writer, Stuart Beattie.
When suggested that Depp may not be returning, Beattie reportedly nodded and said: “I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now.” He went on to add: “I think Jack Sparrow will be his legacy. It’s the only character he’s played five times, it’s the character he dresses up in to visit children in hospitals, it’s what he’ll be remembered for.”

Depp has been the major lead for all five Pirates movies over the last 15 years. Originally thought to be a risky move featuring a then indie-focused Johnny Depp in a lead role for the first Pirates of the Caribbean, the franchise has gone on to amass billions of dollars over its history.
