Two of Johnny Depp’s former bodyguards are suing because of terrible work conditions. Things got so bad that they felt they had no choice but to quit.

According to the Blast, Eugene Arreola (a retired LAPD detective) and Miguel Sanchez worked for an agency that provided security for Depp since 2007. In 2016, they were hired on to be a part of Depp’s in-house security team.

The court papers state that after the two men started working directly for the actor, paychecks went missing. To add to that, they didn’t receive overtime and were not given rest pay.

As they continued to work for Depp, they found themselves doing more than what a bodyguard should be expected to do. They were “asked repeatedly to drive vehicles that contained illegal substances.”

Apparently, at one point, Depp walked into a club with illegal substances visible on his face. Arreola and Sanchez then had to guard him from onlookers.

They wrote in conclusion:

“As a result of the toxic and dangerous work environment and the constant labor code violations of their employers, Plaintiffs were forced to leave their employment despite the fact that they enjoyed many of the people they worked with and have no ill will toward Johnny Depp.”

The two are seeking unspecified damages. Johnny Depp has yet to respond.
