Warner Bros. has released their first teaser trailer for the upcoming ‘Joker’ movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Todd Phillips.

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Joker movie has released, and fans are buzzing about the chilling tone.
According to E! News, the trailer was released Wednesday morning, April 3, and highlighted Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the iconic villain. Fans have been clamoring for a glimpse at the upcoming film. This desire grew even more after the studio released a teaser poster on Tuesday. The director of the film, Todd Phillips, also surprised lucky fans with an early sneak-peek at the trailer during CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Joker is set to reveal and dive into the origin story of the infamous Batman villain. According to Phillips, Arthur is the man who eventually becomes the Joker, and the movie will show his mysterious past. Phillips revealed some more details about his film at CinemaCon. “When the marketing department at Warners asked me the other day to describe the movie, I said ‘I can’t,'” Phillips explained. “They said at least tell us the genre, and I thought about it for a minute and said, ‘It’s a tragedy.'”
Phoenix will join the likes of Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson in his portrayal of the Joker. Phoenix’s performance will be most directly compared to Jared Leto’s take of Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad.
