Recent health concerns over raw turkey meat has led to the recall of more than 91,000 pounds by Jennie-O.
According to the Washington Examiner, the Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has ordered the recall due to reports of Salmonella. Jennie-O, which is the second-largest U.S. turkey producer, will be pulling 91,338 pounds of ground and seasoned turkey. The tainted meat was reportedly produced on September 11, and has led to 164 people in 35 states becoming sick after eating it.
According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, no whole turkeys have been compromised, and are still safe to eat. They are worried though that many people may have frozen the turkey products that may contain the Salmonella, and be unaware of the unhealthy food.
