J.K. Rowling is taking her former assistant, Amanda Donaldson, to court for using a business credit card for personal purchases.
Donaldson worked for Rowling from February 2014 to March 2017. In that time, the BBC reports that the former employee bought $31,115 worth of personal items with the card. The author first noticed discrepancies Donaldson’s monthly statements in February 2017. She was consequently fired the next month for personal spending.
So what kinds of things was Donaldson buying with Rowling’s card? Some include a whopping $2,144 spent on Starbucks and $4,755 at Molton Brown, a cosmetics company. She also apparently bought two cats for $1,572!

Goodness gracious. That is quite a hefty amount.
Donaldson is denying all claims made against her.
