George Floyd GoFundMe Set A Record For Most Donations Ever

The world has been turned upside down since the killing of George Floyd almost two weeks ago in Minnesota due to police violence. George Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd launched the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund on May 27, 2020, and it has already received the highest number of individual donations and has gone global for a GoFundMe page according to TMZ.
The campaign has received close to 500k donations and shares, people from 125 countries have donated amounts ranging from $5 to $50,000. The fundraiser has nearly $13 million as of Sunday night. George Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd says the money will cover funeral and burial expenses, provide counseling, pay for lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and assist the family going forward as they seek justice for George. A portion of the funds will also go to George’s estate to take care of his kids and provide for their education.
