Barbara Bush, wife of George H. W. Bush and former First Lady of the United States, has sadly passed away.
According to TMZ, Bush had been suffering from congestive heart failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She passed away in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her family.
As it turns out, the former First Lady made the decision herself that it was time to go. On Sunday, she told doctors that she was declining further medical treatment, and was instead focusing on comfort care.
Besides her role former role as First Lady, Barbara Bush also served as Second Lady for eight years during the Reagan administration. Her primary focus during her tenure was on universal literacy, and she even established the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.
She is survived by her husband and her five children, including former President George W. Bush. She was 92-years-old.
